The Danburnian Article

Founding

Danburnia was founded by Daniel Blackburn (President Blackburn). Danburnia was founded on November 8, 2008. The next day, the president went around gathering citizens for the new country. There are many rules and initation interviews to become a Danburnian citizen because the president wants a safe and happy country. Danburnia currently has 15 citizens.

Ruling

Danburnia is ruled by a democratic government. Danburnia was originally rulled by the monarchy, but Daniel thought it would be better for all if it was changed to a publicly-voted democratic government. Presidential elections take place in the first 7 days of each new year.

Law

Danburnia has its own set of laws known as the commandments. These are made mainly of your common laws, but also have a few Danburnian laws. These were decided upon by the government and citizens. They have been chosen to help make the citizens of Danburnia positive, healthy, and safe people. The list is made up of 12 fundamental laws. Economy

Danburnia has its own currency , the Dan and burns. Dan is symbolised by 'D' and burns by 'b'. 1D = 100b. One Dan is equivalent to five Sterling pounds. 1D = £5. One burn is equal to 5 pence. 1b = 5p.

Geography

Danburnia is a small island which is situated in the North Pacific Ocean, along with the other Hontui Islands. Danburnia is mainly grasslands and hills; the President wants Danburnia to remain this way and feels Danburnia should be a very environmentally-friendly country. All buildings are made from renewable products (trees), and there are currently no forms of transportation other than cycles. This is because of the carbon emissions that other methods of transportation give off. The capital city of Danburnia is New Blackburn.

Flag

The Danburnian flag was designed by the president. The flag is very symbolic. The green shows the colour of land, the blue shows the colour of the sea, and the yellow represents the sun. All of these things are considered peaceful, which is exactly what the president was aiming for.

The coat of arms was designed by the president. The coat of arms is made up of very specific and symbolic things. The Danburnian flag is featured in the middle. The Danburnian motto Peace for all is featured below the flag. The two arms are forming the peace symbol, one on each side of the flag. One is white and one is black–this represents the peace between races. The animal on top of the flag is a seagull, the national animal of Danburnia.

Sports

Table Tennis

The national sport of Danburnia is Table Tennis. Matches were formaly held every Tuesday morning at Kelvin Hall School.

Football

The Hontui Premier League was a football league. The nations that played in his league were Tozland , Danburnia, and Stigistan. The first season was played but Danburnia pulled out of the legue after the team was unable to commit.
