The Revolutionary Republic of Dartiria, (unofficially Dartiria, previously the Dartirian Empire) was an emerging Romanian micronation built up after a long series of political reforms and internal struggles. It is the final incarnation of the Dartirian state, which had previously been unstable.

Initial preparations for the founding of the Dartirian Empire began on May 3, 2018 between former Emperor Andrei I and a close friend. Upon coming to an agreement regarding micronational independence, the two formed the Crown Council.

A new person joined in on the idea the following day, becoming the third member of what then morphed into the final national ruling body. The Dartirian Declaration of Independence was elaborated by Rusu Andrei and passed on for confirmation to the rest of the government on May 5, becoming the written manifestation of Dartirian independence from Romania.

Shortly after achieving independence, the Empire finished the process of becoming a member of the League of Romanian Micronations and obtained recognition from the Despotate of Vlasynia, marking its first step into the world of intermicronational politics. It also confirmed its membership into the League of Micronations.

On the 21st of June 2018, the Dartirian Empire became a federal subject of Vlasynia-Dartiria and one month later, on the 21st of July 2018, when the United Republic of Vlasynia-Dartiria was formed, Dartiria and Vlasynia stopped being federal subjects and were replaced by the Capital Cities of Remuş and Enok and by the Aethir, Teleajen, Trenari and the Bucharester Territories Districts. They also stopped being governed individually by Sweyn and Ested, respectively.

Revolutionary Republic

As a result of several political and social issues within the Vlasyno-Dartirian State, the former Empire split from Vlasynia-Dartiria and proclaimed its independence as the Revolutionary Republic of Dartiria. The political situation would have been tense, as neither party could come to an agreement with the other, but the withdrawal was mostly peaceful.

The flag to the left was adopted shortly afterwards by Dartirian Partisans, combining Dartirian national colours with a unique pattern which symbolizes freedom from Vlasynia.

The country was informally disestablished and all state authorities were dissolved on 28 august 2018, marking the end of Dartiria.

Government & Administration

The form of Government was aimed at preserving the balance of power within the country. There were two administrative divisions called Domains (RO: Domenii): The Domain of Brașov and the Domain of Giurgiu. The reason behind this was that, given the separation of the three rulers, there must be separate pieces of land to take into account (See the map to the right).

Since two of the nation's registered citizens resided in the Domain of Giurgiu, they jointly rule over it and its headquarters: The City of Remus. This landmass was the de-facto capital of the Republic, despite there being no capital city mentioned in the Constitution.

Meanwhile, the Domain of Brasov wqs ruled over by President Rusu Andrei and has its seat at The Dependency of Aethir. The domnains consist of the citizens' houses and the surrounding areas, having arbitrary borders which were subject to change.

The three rulers made up the Revolutionary council, a form of government unique to the Republic, combining traditional republican features with absolutist tendencies, which was meant to keep the country afloat during its quest for international affirmation and internal stability.

Political situation

The Republic was a state with limited international recognition (coming from countries with little recognition themselves), featuring no authority over the lands in which it expressed its sovereignity. It can be compared to micronational entities such as Seborga and Molossia. The United Nations consider the territories it claimed part of Romania, which makes the state a Romanian enclave.

Economy & infrastructure

The De-Jure currency was the Dartirian Dart (DTD) which was unexchangeable outside the country. It was pegged to the Romanian Leu, with an exchange rate of 100 Darts per Leu, making the Dart equal in value to the Romanian monetary subdivision of Ban (pl. Bani). The currency is minted by the Dartirian Republican Bank (RO: Banca Republicana Dartiriană) and it is in the process of being stabilized and spread across the country.
I Dart

First proposed design for 1 Dart, which used to be the official design in the homonymous empire from 2017.

The Dartirian Bank was headquartered in Remus and led by the joint rulers of the Free City. It was an autocephalous institution, which meant that it could mint its currency without answering to any national authority, as long as it didn't undermine the economy.Unlike other national currencies, the Dart has no subdivisions. The decision to abolish this idea was made in order to facilitate trade across the country.

Second proposed design, featuring a serial number and the now-obsolete "Dartirian Imperial Bank" inscription at the top

Complicating an already-weak currency with more units to trade in would have added to the hassle, and was therefore unanimously considered a bad idea.

Being a de-facto part of Romania, the Republic depended on Romanian supplies in order to function, making the Romanian state the country's first, and only, foreign supplier. It could be argued that macronations supplying Romania such as the US are Dartirian foreign suppliers by association, but it is highly unlikely that anything supplied by other countries reaches Dartirian territories.

The disjointed lands under republican jurisdiction were connected by a series of roads and railways administered by CFR (RO: Căile Ferate Române, EN: Romanian Railways) and CNAIR (RO: Compania Naţională pentru Administrarea Infrastructurii Rutiere (EN: National Company for the Administration of Road Infrastructure) respectively.

Geography, climate & demongraphics

Satelite view of the Dependency of Aethir in the Domain of Brasov

Satelite view of Remus, Giurgiu

The northern and southern half of the country have slightly different climates and geographical layouts: The Domain of Braşov is a forest-like area predominantly made up of hills and other forms of rocky terrain, whereas The Domain of Giurgiu is significantly flatter and less harsh to traverse. There is a slight climate difference as well, in the sense that the northern part of the state tends to be colder during the winter.

The first National Census which took place in 2018 stated that an overwhelming 100% of the country's registered citizens are of Romanian nationality and Orthodox faith, giving the nation full national unity to boast about.Since the territorial claims are vast and largely urban, the population is in fact significantly larger than the ammount of registered citizens, however, there is no effective way to find out an exact number. The Dartirian Constitution considered all unregistered people within the boundaries of the Republic legal immigrants.

Dartirian culture was practically identical with Romania's, with the exception that the nation did not celebrate the day of Romanian independence (choosing to celebrate its own on May 5 - formation day, and August 23rd - independence day). It did not consider Christmas and Easter non-working days since it has no state religion.

Mihail Saulescu

The Romanian poet, Mihail Saulescu, died relatively close to the Dependency of Aethir, which made him a pseudo-national hero. The reasoning is that since he died on the Predeal front, he fought to protect what would become the Dartirian Empire (and later, the Revolutionary Republic) many years after his death.

The high school in which the President and former Emperor studies is named after the poet, which further reinforced his importance for the nation.

The national authorities wereurrently working on strenghtening online presence (through a Facebook page) as well as creating diplomatic ties with like-minded governments.

International relations

The Republic is currently in the process of revamping its diplomatic relations throughout the micronational world. It is currently not a member of any international organization.
