The Republican Dominion of Jaliva (or Republic of Jaliva) is a North American micronation. It was established on January 13th, 2008, by Joshua Howard.

HistoryEdit

EMBLEMS - The Republic of Jaliva was founded on January 13, 2008, in the form of the Howard Office of Family Concerns (HOFC). The HOFC was founded by Joshua Howard as a small household organization designed to oversee and coordinate day-to-day business and policy. The HOFC introduced the first document of Constitution on January 26, 2008.

On May 12, 2008, the HOFC was reorganized as the Micronational Commonwealth of Howardia, and the first flag of the Howardian Administration was unveiled. The

First Administrative Flag remained the official emblem of the Commonwealth until the design was replaced by the Second Administrative Flag of Howardia on September 24, 2008.

The Second Administrative Flag remains in use today as the official emblem of the Howardian Administration within the framework of the broader dominion, but is nolonger effective as the paramount emblem of the Micronation. On August 28, 2010, The Commonwealth of Howardia was officially restructured as the Dominion of Jaliva.

Unification Act - On November 8, 2010, a new National flag design was proposed, which would serve to combine themes from the previously separate colors of Daventry, Howardia, and Jaliva, thereby

replacing all of the dominion's official flags with a single unified ensign. If accepted, the new flag would have been adopted no later than January 2011, and the Dominion of Jaliva would have become at that time the newly unified Howardian Realm of Jaliva. The proposed new flag and movement to rename the Dominion of Jaliva as the Realm of Jaliva symbolized a change in the fundamental mechanics of micronational symbolism. Unlike the Dominion or other previous incarnations of Jaliva, the unified Realm and flag thereof would represent not just specific assets or aspects of

the micronational initiative as a whole, but all aspects and matters related to the same. The Unified Realm and its flag would represent applicable sovereign property of all kinds, whether physical assets, citizens, cooperative pacts, unique mythology and micronational fiction, intellectual property, or other forms important to the advancement of the Jaliva Initiative. Citizenship in the ongoing Realm of Jaliva, while relevant, would be of lesser importance, as the micronation would in future usage be characterized not by its number of citizens, but by its cultural value and broader influence. For this reason, the principle of citizenship within the realm would not be specifically

important demographically. Thus, Jaliva does not have a formal Census Bureau.

Republican Era - On December 16, 2010, the proposed unification act was rejected, Jaliva was restructured as a Republic, and a new Federal Flag of Jaliva was unveiled and adopted. The Jaliva Federal Flag (otherwise known as the Republic Ensign) symbolized Jaliva's graduation from a government based upon assets and entities to one governed and defined by principles and elements of ideals.

d an X in the center. The design is allegorical of sound reason in the form of mental strength, physical strength, spiritual strength, and circumstantial strength. Five horizontal stripes on the flag of the Republic are representative of Allegiance to Self, to Nation, to Capitalism, to Society, and to Personal Freedom. Thus, the flag of Jaliva symbolizes four rules of law applied to five aspects of life.

LAW - On November 22, 2008, the limited HOFC Constitution was replaced by the new, six-page Howardia Commonwealth Document of Constitution. The Constitution of Howardia was later amended four times, and remains in use today. The four amendments to the Constitution include the Howardia Sovereignty Act (Sec. 51), the Primary Directive (Sec. 52), Valkyrie Initiative (Sec. 53), and the Mission Summary Draft (Sec. 54). The Mission Summary Draft empowered Howardia by abandoning a previously exclusive dynastic approach to citizenship

and for the first time allowing persons not directly related to the Howard family provisional citizenship.

The 2010 reorganization of Howardia into the Dominion of Jaliva represented a turning point in the legal process of the Micronation, as it sought to reform and refit itself as part of an ongoing preparation for the broader world stage of diplomacy and growth.

General StatisticsEdit

ECONOMY - Because of its proximity to and frequent trade with the United States, The value of the Jalivan primary monetary unit - the Sovereign - is held at an exchange rate of One Sovereign per One Cent (USD $0.01). After briefly launching several variable-rate currencies, High Command concluded that a fixed-rate system best met the economic needs of the Dominion.

The Howardia Commonwealth Stock Exchange was founded April 14, 2009. On May 30, 2010, the HC352 Economic Indicator was unveiled as the Dominion's primary guage of National Economic Strength

, closing the trading week with a volume of 64.96.

LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE - Jaliva, as a Jurisdictional Dominion, is led by the Paramount Chief, who may also be commonly referred to as Chief Commander, simply as Commander, or alternatively as the Governor. The Commander of Jaliva is the permanent head of State and possesses exclusive power to appoint, promote, or dispatch officials, and to govern the wealth, assets, and/or territorial jurisdiction(s) or domain(s) of the dominion.

The present style of authoritarian government was chosen for reasons of practicality because of the small size of the Dominion. Nevertheless, in accordance with the Constitution of Jaliva, the rights of citizens to enjoy free expression, property ownership, individual privacy, and civil respect are fully protected, as are their rights to fair treatment, protection, general welfare, and to petition Government for redress of grievances.

Territorial Jurisdiction

In addition to being a Representative Republic, Jaliva is a Jurisdictional Dominion with sovereign control over various assets, territory, and other property. Its current seat of government is located near the south unincorporated boundry of Tacoma, Washington, in the United States. Jaliva enjoys primarily amicable relations with immediate neighbors.

Because the territorial jurisdiction of Jaliva is fairly limited, Headquarters (also known as Daventry District) serves jointly as both the Embassy of the United States in Jaliva, and the Embassy of Jaliva to the United States.

Jalivan CultureEdit

PANTHEON OF JALIVA (Also Known as the Representative Senate of Jaliva)- In addition to being the official title of the Dominion, JALIVA serves an acronym representing six mythological figures which form a unique pantheon. Those figures are Justitia, Athena, Libertus, Isis, Valkyrie, and Atlas. Respectively, they represent the ideals of Justice, Wisdom, Liberty, Charity, Heroism, and Individualism. The Jalivan Pantheon plays an important role in the Dominion's culture, being referred to prominently in the official anthem:

New Anthem of the Jalivan Realm (Proposed November 12, 2010)* Eternal Glory! Manifest Destiny! Triumph of the will through principles that shall endure; Forged by a sense of honor and great moral might; Standing at the sacred altar of simple purity; Live long and prosper, grand colors of the realm! Build an everlasting temple for thy sovereignty! *This proposed anthem was never fully adopted in an official capacity, and while it remained active as a Jalivan cultural symbol, "Jaliva, Jaliva" was retained as the permanent anthem of the Republic."

SEMAPHORE ALPHABET - For literary distinctiveness, Jaliva has developed and utilizes a unique alphabetical character set which coincides with standard English letters. The alphabet is used primarily for novelty purposes.

Commissioned ProjectsEdit

WORLD CAPITOL PROJECT - On January 30, 2010, High Command commissioned an extensive, ongoing project created for the purpose of designing an imaginary world capitol. The fictional work was intended to serve as a unique novelty which would attract internet tourism and otherwise project Jaliva's taste in terms of culture and architecture. The program is presently still active.

WAR GAMES - Jaliva maintains a commissioned department dedicated to simulated war game campaigns. As a subsidiary of the Military Administration, the department explores combat scenarios through computer-based campaigns, and files periodic reports to high command relating to the efficiency and effectiveness of theoretical conflicts..

Micronational Plausibility and MotiveEdit

Jaliva deems itself to be a credible micronation and asserts that its various aspects are real and true as presented thereby. It was created as the representative face of a tangible personal government, founded and ruled by a sovereign individual. The Dominion of Jaliva exists within the broader framework of its host nation, The United States of America, of which it is part. It is neither a fantasy nation or a secessionist movement.

Jaliva in its various incarnations was founded for the fundamental purpose of being a channel for personal creative expression and an example of individual sovereignty. The motive for the creation of Jaliva was fun-based, though not frivolous in nature.

The Jaliva Initiative strives first, foremostly, to be a monument to sovereignty of the individual as a free agent. The flags, the fiction, and all of the pomp and circumstance which surrounds this micronational initiative all purpose to serve as reminders both to the founder and the beholder of mental liberty.
