New Mystras is a Hellenic(Greek) micronation founded on 05 December 2010 by his majesty the Despot Neopaleologos I' as a Despotate. It bears the legacy of the ancient Byzantine Empire and the spirit of Ancient Greece.
After a long period of inactivity, the Prince of Imvrassia declared the Despotate under his protection and proclaimed himself Prince of New Mystras on 11 December 2012. From 15 January to 04 October 2013, the Despotate of New Mystras was an autonomous part of the Principality of Imvrassia. On 05 October 2013 the Despotate of New Mystras was put under protectorate of the Principality of Imvrassia and on 25 November 2013, became a member of the Commonwealth of Hellenic Micronations and finally was annexed as an Exarchate from Imvrassia in 10 December 2016.

The Despotate is an Absolute Monarchy.The Despot Neopaleologos I', reigned since the founding of the Despotate, but until when, is unknown.This title has its origins in the greek word Δεσπότης, which means the one with power.
After the Declaration on 11 December 2012, the Prince of Imvrassia adopted the title of the Prince of New Mystra, as Head of State. On 5 October 2013 the Despotate was put under protectorate of the Principality of Imvrassia and responsible for the external representation of the Despotate is the Principality of Imvrassia. This resulted for the title of Despot to become inactive and have only typical report as to the office of Head of state. From 10 December 2016 New Mystras is ruled by an Exarch, nominally appointed by the Monarch of Imvrassia and is thought to be hereditary.

The nation's emblem is the two-headed eagle, which symbolises the two authorities that rule over the Despotate, the Church and the Despot.The Despotate's Coat of Arms is again the two-headed eagle, bearing a sceptre and a spear, which symbolise the spiritual and physical strength of the nation.

Academy of Strategic Issues []
New Mystras runs the first academy that trains strategists. The students of this academy learn how to plan strategies of both defence and offence, how to find the enemy's weaknesses and many more useful -when it comes to war- things.The lessons are mostly web-based. To join the academy you have to visit the official website and follow the instructions given there.
