Guillaume Garot is the current President of the Magdalen Islands. He is currently serving as President in an interim capacity until such time as elections are held. President Garot was elected to serve a full term on 23 November 2012. On 6 December 2012, the National Assembly declared that President Garot was not fit to hold public office, and was replaced by Prime Minister Raoul Bouchard as the Acting President, however, on 8 December 2012, the National Assembly voted to reinstate President Garot.
