North Barchant, the full name is the Kingdom of North Barchant.
Geographically, the state is located in the neutral waters of the Atlantic Ocean near the Canary Islands archipelago, 78 nautical miles to the west of Morocco.
The Kingdom of North Barchant is an independent and sovereign state. It has unique, formalized official state symbols and attributes. On September 15, 2015 in the General Referendum of natives, the participants declared themselves an independent territorial unit with full power and authority and the status of an independent state.
The political system of the Kingdom of North Barchant is a dualistic constitutional monarchy, similar in nature to the political system of such countries as Kuwait, Morocco and Bahrain.
At present, the head of the state is Anna Macco, the Queen of North Barchant, whose legitimacy has been confirmed and secured by the Parliament and the people.
The indigenous population is multinational. Tolerance, the absence of class hatred and respect for private property protect the inhabitants of the Kingdom from social conflicts.
The Kingdom of North Barchant is a young state. The historical motive and the main prerequisite for the creation of the kingdom was a legal incident that occurred with the two sailors of the ocean barges drifting in the North Atlantic Ocean, for a variety of circumstances thrown together with the crew and the refugees who joined them.The history of the struggle for establishment of statehood began in May 2010 with the official appeal to the nearby African countries for supplying people, who are on the floating islands with aid and shelter. Crews of these barges had no opportunity to come back home due to lack of funds, documents, and support of their countries.
After the neighboring countries ignored these requests, sailors, fishermen and refugees, by that time already considering floating barges-islands to be their home, began a campaign to protect their own interests and to obtain the status of a separate and independent political unit. They were supported by human rights organizations, voluntary movements and enthusiasts, not indifferent to the fate of the abandoned group of people. This struggle resulted in the proclamation of the Kingdom of North Barchant on September 15, 2015 an independent micro-state.
Following the path of international recognition at the status of an independent administrative unit, the Kingdom of North Barchant has been making all efforts to create a complete structure of statehood and its compliance with international norms and law up to this day.
The country is located at the north-west edge of the African continent at the crossroads of major shipping trade lanes.
The area of the state is 1.11788 km².
Climate of North Barchant is tropical tradewind. Most of the year there is warm, sunny weather.
On February 20, 2016, the Kingdom announced the expansion of its territorial waters from 2 to 15 nautical miles.
North Barhant has no administrative divisions and cities. Following the example of the state of Nauru, the Republic of Kiribati, North Barchant also refused to give the status of a capital to any locality.
Population of the Kingdom of North Barchant is represented by various ethnic groups – the most numerous are
immigrants from Morocco, Berbers - 27%, Guanches - 12%, Dungans - 8%, and other nationalities. These are mainly immigrants from such countries as Spain, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Congo, as well as refugees from other countries.
Enviable strength of character is a distinguishing feature of population of the Kingdom of North Barchant. Due to the favorable migration policy of the Kingdom, the population growth rates are among the highest in the world.
According to the 2016 census, the population is 342 people. The population density is 306 persons per km². At the age structure people from 15 to 64 years dominate – 92.1%: 283 men and 32 women. Younger than 14 years – 5.5%: 10 men and 9 women. Older than 65 - 2.3%: 6 men and 2 women. Average age is 38.5 years. Literacy is 41%.
As a result of the referendum on the state language, conducted on January 5, 2016, the status of the official languages of North Barchant is assigned to English, Russian and Spanish. They are the main languages for record management and official ceremonies. In oral speech, advertising and the media, the English, Arabic, Catalan languages are often used. From the Middle Atlas Tamazight dialects, there are mostly Iziyan, Zemmur, Sadden, sometimes – Ndhir, Beni-mgild and Youssi.
Etymology of the name
The state name derives from the Kazakh word "barchan", literally meaning "sandy hill". Symbolically, it refers to the former purpose of the barges transporting sand.
The state of North Barchant is ruled by a monarch (now – Queen), whose power is limited by the constitution. The monarch forms the government accountable to the monarch and the Parliament. Only the monarch is authorized to dismiss and appoint the government. Every citizen of North Barchant who is over 18, has the right to vote and to be elected to the Parliament.
Legislative functions are performed by the unicameral parliament, formed at the General Elections on December 5, 2015. 83.5% of the population participated in the elections. The duties of control are incumbent on 6 Parliamentary Committees, and executive functions are assigned to 3 departments, also there are Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
There is no army in the Kingdom of North Barchant, and security functions are incumbent on the police department, constables and their voluntary assistants.
North Barchant conducts the policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign countries. The state remains neutral in relation to all military conflicts, but strongly condemns terrorism. North Barchant has no territorial claims to any legal entity under international law and is not involved in international litigation with anyone.

One of the first Treaties of Amity and Cooperation was signed by the Kingdom of North Barchant with the Principality of Sealand.
In carrying out the foreign policy, the Kingdom of North Barchant adheres to the principles of neutrality and independence. The country is not involved in the military and economic organizations.
The Kingdom of North Barchant is committed to caring of the environment, and, in particular, conducts and supports the campaigns of purification of the Atlantic waters from industrial and household waste islands polluting the region. The Kingdom calls for the unification of all interested countries in the Atlantic basin to solve this problem.
At present, migration processes in North Barchant have become active and account for approximately 6.3% per 100 people. The strengthening of migration was contributed by a new law that provides individuals, who have the citizenship of two or more states at the same time, with the right to obtain the citizenship of North Barchant as an extra one. The above persons also have the right to vote, hold public office and to conduct business under the jurisdiction of North Barchant.
The Government of the Kingdom of North Barchant and the entire state apparatus believe that their main objective is to protect the interests of all their citizens, both at home and at the international arena and use for this legal and economic instruments, and own authority.
Despite the small area and limited natural resources, the Kingdom of North Barchant shows encouraging economical growth rates due to the zero tax rate on profit and capital gains.

The national currency of North Barchant – pesetas. 1 peseta equals 100 centimos. Pesetas rate depends on euro, which has free circulation within the country. The fiscal year coincides with the calendar one. The foreign debt is absent.
In North Barchant, there are people from many countries of the region. Uniting of various traditions resulted in the original culture in which one can discern the voice of each ethnic group.
Church in North Barchant is separated from the state. The population professes Christianity (Orthodoxy, Protestantism and Catholicism), peaceful Sunni Islam, and Judaism.
