The Monarchy of Winesburg is a micronation located south of Lake Erie. The government is comprised of a king, secondary head of state, and a legislative branch. The current king of Winesburg is William Webb, while Kennenth Bonnigson II is the secondary head of state.
Winesburg was founded on October 24, 2015, by King William and Secondary Head of State Kenneth Bonnigson. Winesburg gains its namesake from the novel Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson, which takes place in the fictional town of Winesburg, Ohio. The town of Winesburg is heavily based off of the city of Clyde, the hometown of King William and Kenneth Bonnigson II.
The Monarchy of Winesburg is composed of a constitutional monarchy. The king of Winesburg controls the executive branch and deals in foreign affairs. National defense and military operations is lead by the secondary head of state. All legislative functions are performed by a legislative council of ten men/woman. As of June, 2017, the legislative council is yet to be elected. As a result, the laws of the United States of America have been adopted until a council can be elected to independently create laws.
Area and Population
Winesburg consists of an estimated area of 420 mi2. Fremont is the largest city. Other major towns are Clyde, Gibsonburg, Woodville, Green Springs, and part of Bellevue. The estimated population is 61,000. People from Winesburg are called WInesburgians.
