The Noble Republic of Lurk, or Republic of Lurk[1] is a landlocked nation in Central Europe, bordering only the Czech Republic[2] and Kingdoms and Lands Represented in the Council of the Diarchal Crowns of the Disciples (known simply as Mercia). Lurk is the only existing successor state of the Lurk Federation and Archduchy of Lurk. Lurk has a large claim of local fields and hills, which are uninhabited. It's main population centre is the capital Redwood City, which is an exclave from the Lurk Hills. The Noble Republic of Lurk is a form of representative-direct democracy, with the National Assembly being composed of elected representatives, and people with the power to create a referendum for a new law or against previous law. The nation is divided into five Oblasts, which enjoy a degree of autonomy, with rights to have national symbols and local legislature. The oblasts are further divided into Krajs, with similar, yet limited rights.

Lurk, as is all its previous incarnations, is located in the Lurk hills area from which the nation takes its name from. The Lurk hills seemed to be a perfect claim for a new nation, since they had infrastructure (mud roads), natural resources such as wood, a river to supply water and power, and are relatively quiet area in beautiful nature with no known permanent citizens.

Redwood City can trace it's micronational history back to year 2005, when it was part of informally-established one-day nation. In the year 2008, Alex White, the founder of Lurk, participated in Radim Dresler's geofictional world, where he owned a nation named Yugoslavia, a democratic republic with center in Croatia, where the capital was located. Along with that, he owned Eastern half of Europe and his friend the western, including Czechia. His renaming of local (and distant) geographical features, own language (similar to Czech) were the pillars of early Lurkish culture and are still part of it today. For example, the Nek River's name comes from early Aerian, and is different from the common name used for it, Rokytka.

Lurk, as itself, was established on 25th June 2011 under the name LurkSAR as a socialist (or rather Soviet Autonomous Republic, as is the SAR suffix usually referred to today, while at the time the original meaning was not specified) nation. It established contact with Flatland and established informal relations, and formal relations several months afterwards. A day later, LurkSAR was reformed into Lurk Republic. Lurk Republic participated mostly in the YouTube Community's many disputes, however it stayed as a neutral observer and tried to solve the conflicts diplomatically. It's open foreign policy started here as well, as the nation offered diplomacy for all the new nations and tried to offer advice. It was described as one of the few "sensible" nations of the Community, as it did not create or participate in any disputes.

Lurk Federation

After the collapse of the YouTube community, Lurk reformed into the Lurk Federation, a federation of Lurk and the newly-annexed Acrest. In January of 2012 it has adopted a new flag, and shifted it's culture to Germanic. Along with this, a new constitution (and the first Lurkish constitution) was adopted. President's office was disestablished and all it's powers were transferred to the Prime Minister. However, after this move, the nation fell into deep inactivity, leading it to several choices of joining unions.

Lurkish Unionism

Lurk participated in several unions (Utopias) with Monovia , Pashema and Grunkia . After the collapse of the Second Utopia a short union called NSSR existed with Monovia, although it did not last very long and Lurk joined Slevania, a union of Czech and Slovak micronations, however Lurk did not participate. After collapse of Slevania, Lurk created the United Provinces of Utopia - another union with Grunkia, Monovia, Pashema, Underwoodia, Spanionia, Balmex and Danland. However this union quickly became inactive, and inactivity in the union worsened the relations of Lurk and the other members. Eventually, this union collapsed after months of inactivity when Archduchy of Lurk, a member state of Utopia, left and was reformed into the Noble Republic of Lurk.

Noble Republic of Lurk

The Noble Republic was formed according to the Action Plan of the Archduchy of Lurk, which stated major constitutional changes and few other necessary points which had to be fulfilled. One of the first needed changes was change back to the Republic, since the Monarchy was not working well, not very approved, existed only due to the inactive United Provinces of Utopia and the governmental structure was too complicated. A constitutional reform occurred a year later in 2013, where Czechoslovak constitution from 1920 was adapted (with added direct democracy). This finally created a representative democracy in Lurk, but direct democracy was still somewhat kept. It is a founding member of UMBMSS.

Czech micronational community

One of the most major recent events was the discovery of several Czech (and Moravian) micronations (mostly located on Facebook), such as the State of Moravia and Mekniy federation, which led to creation of the first larger Czech (and Moravian) community. The community is peaceful, focused mainly on improving their nations and open to common projects, such as the Corona banking system and currency.

Lurk is only defined as a "democratic sovereign state" in the constitution, however the constitution defines the political system later on. The legislative power is executed by the National Assembly and the people through General Referendums.

National Assembly

National Assembly is composed of democratically, directly and secretively elected representatives from Lurk. The only criteria a candidate has to fulfill is the age of 15 years, which is also the voting age in Lurk. National Assembly is composed of the Parliament, which can pass legislature (with simple majority) and change the constitution (with 3/5 majority) if more than one third of it's members are present. The President calls the meetings of the Assembly minimally twice a year, and that is in October and March. The National Assembly can also serve as a court if the President was accused of High Treason (and the Parliament has approved it with 2/3 of it's members, but 2/3 minimally must be present).

Referendums are the element of direct democracy in Lurk. Each citizen can start a referendum, and each is allowed to vote in it. Minimally one third of the population must vote in the referendum to be effective, and simple majority must agree with it's contents. Referendums have to be approved by the government to verify their constitutionality and that they do not put one group over another in any way. If the referendum is passed, the National Assembly must add it to the Lurkish legislative within seven days, unless the law states otherwise. If the law is rejected, a referendum or a law in the Assembly with similar or same contents can not be created for one month. Constitution is not a matter of referendums.

Ministers are directly appointed by the President. Ministerial posts are created by the President as well.

Currently, four ministries are present - Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministy of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Nature and Tourism. Each ministry has several subdivisions, with most covered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, ranging from emergency services to television networks.

President is directly and secretively elected by the citizens through a two-round system, where in the first round all the candidates are allowed to take place, and in the second round only those which had the most votes before. The winner of the second round becomes the new President. President can only have two terms. President, as defined in the constitution, is the head of the state, ratifies all treaties approved by the Assembly, signs new laws, declares a state of war (only with approval of the National Assembly), calls the meetings of the Assembly, has right to veto a law, creates ministerial positions and appoints ministers, can issue decrees by the decree law, is commander-in-chief, represents the nation to other nations, serves as an advisory body to the Assembly and appoints ambassadors.

The Lurkish economy is not very well developed, but, according to Alex White, has a great potential. Many electronic parts are available, clay mine is constructed and many farming spots are available. The economy is centered on Redwood City.

The Delta was de facto established in the NSSR, when the Lurk Korunas were long time obsolete and the NSSR needed a currency. Alex White designed the NSSR state credit, which is unusable due to the socialist themes on the front side. Lurkish Delta itself had never adopted any design.

The territory of Lurk consists of Redwood City,Home Territory and Lurk Hills all located in Central Europe, and the exclave of Qoostrana (North America). Most of the Lurkish territory is generally flat fields, with the exception of the Lurk Hills.

Lurk Hills

Lurk Hills are amongst the most important cultural symbols of Lurk and are the first claim, which has given the name to the nation. Currently, Lurk Hills are claimed for protection of the local forests, plains, the Nek River and local animals. Lurk considers this a very unique location in Prague, due to keeping its natural look (despite being in the capital of the Czech Republic), and possibly even in the world. Most of the Lurk Hills are national parks, with no permanent citizens.

"Bunker" Area

Bunker (in Czech also used as a "club" or a ground version of a "treehouse") is a territory where proposed base was to be located. It was the most ambitious projects of Lurkish engineering, but failed due to lack of initiative from a Czech citizen. One of the plans was a small, house-like structure to be used as a meeting place for the "club". Today, only a few bushes which were used as a provisional fence remain, marking the proposed territory of the house. The more ambitious project was an underground base. No details regarding it were released, but it might be restarted in the future. In this area, Lurkish capital was to be located originally. A wind turbine was planned to be installed, to create electricity and the whole area was planned to be fenced with old fence found nearby. However, all of these plans were scrapped due to lack of interest.

Nek River

Nek River (Rokytka in Czech, however it's preferred to use Nek in Lurk) is a traditional symbol of Lurk, which has been recently reclaimed after a long period of being included in potential claims. It's the largest river in Lurk, and flows into the Nekker lake, St. Maul's Lake and ends in Czech river Vltava.

As stated in the second version of constitution, Lurk is divided into Oblasts and Krajs, where the Oblasts are the highest subdivisions. All subdivisions have their own legislature, which can decide on local matters. Subdivisions also are allowed to use their own flag and coat of arms. Current Oblasts and Krajs are:
