Manova, officially the Principality of Manova (French: Principauté de Manove, Esperanto: Principlando de Manovo, Spanish: Principe de Manova) is a self-proclaimed micronation located in the eastern part of Belgium, near Liège that was founded in 2014.
The exact origin of the term Manova is unknown. This term was first coined by D. Fombona and was adopted as the country's name.
The Principality was declared an independent sovereign nation in 2014 by D. and E. Fombona, in response to the disputes between the Flemish and the Walloon communities of Belgium.
On the 22nd of December 2014, the representatives of Manova signed a treaty of peace, friendship, colaboration and recognition with the Principality of Pandrea
In 2017 will be held the first government reunion concerning the writing of a new constitution, establishment of official holidays, renovation of the Culture and History Centre as well as the first real elections of the history of Manova.
Government & PoliticsEdit
The Principality of Manova is a constitutional monarchy. Manova is not defined by the Prince nor the territory but by its People which means that the People are allowed to vote at anytime to make the Prince abdicate. Also, the Prince's official denomination is "Prince of (the) Manoveans", making Manova a popular monarchy.
The Prince accedes to the throne after having solemnly said, the following oath: "I swear to respect the Constitution and laws of the Manovean People, to preserve national independence and territorial integrity." (Article 11 §10 of Manova's constitution)
The executive power is represented by the government and the Prince. The Prime Minister is the head of the government. The Prince of Manova is the Chief of the Armed Forces, the head of State and has the right to conduct foreign affairs.
The legislative power is in the hands of the Prince and the House of Representatives also know as the Parliament. Any Manovean citizen may be elected.
At anytime, the House of Representatives may organize a referendum.
In cases of extreme urgency, serious and immediate threat to the existence of the state, the Prince must take the necessary defensive measures. All emergency measures must be ratified or revoked by the House of Representatives as soon as possible. The Prince is bound by the decisions of Parliament. If the emergency is such that martial law should apply, it allows the Prince to exercise all powers of governance.
Law & OrderEdit
Everything concerning the judgments in courts is transferred to the Kingdom of Belgium. However, some specific cases regarding Manove only (such as problems concerning customs) may be judged within Manovean borders.
