A Viceroyalty is a relatively large territory that is ruled by a Viceroy or Vicereine, depending on the gender of the ruler. Effectively meaning "[rule] in place of royalty", Viceroyalties were historically created to allow for easier governance of colonial Empires. Micronationally, Viceroyalties are often stretches of territory awarded to individuals who have proven themselves worthy of such a station but is not a member of the senior Nobility (i.e., cannot rule as a Count, Viscount, Duke, Grand Duke, Prince or similar). It is theoretically impossible to create a fully independant Viceroyalty, all though it is fesiable for a micronation to be ruled as Viceroyalty while a successor to the throne is being decided.
